Halo and Nautilus is the invention of what is perfect by man versus what is actually perfect in nature. The halo is a perfect circle and the symbol of divine creation and is attributed to angels and saints, while the nautilus is a form that grows in nature following the golden ratio; a perfect spiral form that can be measured in a Fibonacci sequence. We do not create spiral forms above the heads of angels any more than we adorn the heads of mollusks with halos, even though the small creature existing on God’s green earth is the bearer of a perfect house, while angels are not actually proven to exist. This speaks to what we create versus what is truth and where they intersect. It also speaks to the formidable aspect of nature as divine creation or universal invention. If nature can follow the pattern of a man-made mathematical equation, is math truly the invention of humanity, or is it a universal map emanating from a spiral to decipher as we continue to trace our days through the slow track of the sun.
